Population Statistics

        The population of Malawi is 10,548,250. The ethnic groups consist of Chewa, Nyanja, Tumbuka, Yao, Lomwe, Sena, Tonga, Ngoni, Ngonde, Asian and European. The first most used language is Chichewa with the second most used as English. The growth rate is 6% as of this year and the Infant Mortality rate is 94 babies per 1000. The life expectancy for male and female both is between 49 and 51. Literacy rate is an estimated 61% which means that 61 percent of the population can read. Age structure of 0-14 years is 45.4%, 15-64 years% is 51.9% and 65 and older is 27%. The religions are mainly Christianity and Muslim.
